Boy eats drum machine

Smoke Signals is proud to announce to addition of Boy Eats Drum Machine to our artist roster.

Boy Eats Drum Machine is Portland native, Jon Ragel, a special breed of multi-disciplined solo artist. He takes the stage with a saxophone, turntable, microphone, sampler, and green tom tom drum. Ragel's clear voice sails over his expert jams, often causing show goers to dance, sway, and otherwise become transfixed.

Ragel is celebrating the release of his new album Hoops + Wire at Doug Fir Lounge on February 27th with Finn Riggins and Brothers Young. Boy Eats Drum Machine is then hitting the road with Finn Riggins for a 4-week tour of the western states with a stop-over in Austin for SXSW.

Check out Portland Mercury's End Hits blog for a preview of the forthcoming album and keep an eye out here for Boy Eats Drum Machine's upcoming tour dates.

Forever Young: An Interview With Dustin Young of The Brothers Young

Posted on Dec 07, 2009

Oregon Music News interviews Dustin Young of Brothers Young. They discuss the genesis of the band, the influence of family, and the new album The Sun Says He's God.

"The musical landscape is littered with family music acts, some brilliant (The Jackson 5, The Pointer Sisters, The Everly Brothers), some less so (The Osmonds). Thankfully, the sibling band we have in Portland, The Brothers Young, falls squarely in the former category."
